Gopalpur on Sea in Orissa, is a beach resort in and as one of the famous tourist destination. Tourists like me really enjoy the roar of the waves and the breeze bustling through the palm trees. With an increase in the inflow of tourists from the late seventies, Gopalpur-on-sea saw a slow revival and is today one of the foremost beach resorts inIndia. One can sit on the concrete finished staircase, like the beach benches, or can take a quite nap in front of the breezing sea.
HOW TO REACH GOPALPUR
By air - The nearest airport is atBhubaneswar, 180 km from Gopalpur-on-sea. Bhubaneshwar is a two and half hour flight from Mumbai andDelhi and one-hour flight from Kolkata.
By Indian Railway - The nearest railhead is Berhampur (16 km) on the Kolkata-Chennai line. By road – One can drive in to Gopalpur-on-sea from Berhampur (now renamed Brahmapur) on National Highway 5 . I love to travel by Bike fromBhubaneswar to Gopalpur for the very reason that the Road (200km) long is quite wide and I enjoy the drive, crossing the Orissa countryside.
